Night Baseball

Night baseball at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I. The night I was there the Paw Sox were hammered by the division leading Scranton Yankees 14-1.

The black line you see in the middle of the picture is a seam of the netting behind home plate to prevent accidents from foul balls.

  4. This is a really wonderful shot. The color is magical. You capture the mood of the night game beautifully. And the netting softens the picture in such a tender way. You're down in my older daughter's neck of the woods when you're in Pawtucket.

  5. Fabulous evening shot!

I don't think I've ever heard of the Paw Sox or the Scranton Yankees, but we only get the major league games here so I'm not surprised.

  7. Baseball must be an interesting sport! But here in Brazil it is virtually unknown...

  8. An unseemly seam, but I probably wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out.

I like the panoramic view of this shot...

  11. A Great American Photo. I love baseball but I've only been to one minor league game - saw the Des Moines Cubs when I was in town on business. This is a nice illustration of the charm of these venues. The family happened to go to the Cardinals - Royals game today and there was nothing of this intimate beauty.

  13. Amazing colours in the sky and the floodlit baseball field. The net seems to add to the picture.

  14. Too bad they didn't win that night. I hear good things about that stadium and would love to visit someday to see some future Red Sox and some former Sea Dogs.
