Pictured above is the statue of Samuel Adams at Fanueil Hall. Adams was one of the founding fathers of the American Revolution and cousin of John Adams, 2nd US President.

Ciao! Love the kid posing, he looks relaxed and happy as opposed to the sever Adams stance

Funny, the contrast between serious Adams and the happy boy!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that nowadays, we don't put statues for great men anymore.. Maybe we have no politic men that deserve enough to be honoured?..
I really like the way you've composed this with the echo of the steeple in the background. Two very strong verticals.
ReplyDeleteI've not seen this one... love the arms folded. It's him!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, good old Samuel Adams at Fanuiel Hall! I need to visit Boston soon, I think. I haven't been back in years.
ReplyDeleteHe also makes one heck of a beer.
ReplyDeletenice composition. i like the solemness of the statue with the kid having a great time.
ReplyDeleteVery stately. I wonder if that boy will follow in the same kind of footsteps...
ReplyDeleteHow interesting. You don't often see statues with their arms crossed like that. Hmm. I wonder why.
ReplyDeletelove the composition!
ReplyDeleteAlways a little bit of History when visiting your blog and it is Welcome!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know John Adams had such an important cousin. Fascinating and a lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteNice composition with Fanueil Hall and what looks to me to be the tower of the Customs House in the background.
ReplyDeleteI remember this from our trip there last summer; I really like your last post, the reflection.
ReplyDeleteWe both posted founding fathers. I really like the pose of Samuel Adams (and of the kid below).
ReplyDeleteOhhh, take me to the sunshine :-)

Old and young, serious and smiling - nice shot!
ReplyDeleteI've always liked Sam Adams...ever since I found out he made beer. I drink the "light" stuff, though.
ReplyDeleteCool photo with that spire and blue sky...and the kid gives the proper sense of scale.
Now that is a nice statue and I like the way you included the boy in front of him too!
ReplyDeleteToo bad the savants currently stalking the halls of Congress and the corridors of the White House are hell-bent on shredding everything Adams and the other founding fathers built.
ReplyDeleteRant ended, «Louis» is now adding a link to your blog in his right side bar...
Somehow, I feel like he'd want to scold the kid, if he could. ;)
ReplyDeleteSam's crossed arms give him a very smug and satisfied look.
ReplyDeleteHappy May Day!
