Located on the banks of the Neponset River in Dorchester, the Keystone Building (~1910) was a piano factory and then a camera company. During WWII an aunt was employed in the building assembling munitions for the war effort. Today the building has been repurposed as an apartment building.
It's nice that it has been repurposed instead of tearing it down.

ReplyDeleteIt's funny I stumbled upon this forum. I worked at the Keystone Camera Building in 1972-1973. Grew up in Lower Mills Dorchester at a time when Walter Baker was still producing chocolate. At that time it was called Keystone Bay State industries. They were manufacturing munitions for the Vietnam war. No explosives but the mechanical machine parts for aerial bombs as well as other. I was a machinist apprentice and was trained in the production of assorted components. Long lost memories....
