July 2008 Theme Day: "No . . ." signs

My contribution to this month's theme is the No Stopping sign at the corner of Beacon and Park Streets in front of the State House. Discreetly hung from the state house is the new banner proclaiming our Celtics as NBA Champs:)

This month's theme is the word "No" on a sign in your city. No matter how you say it in your language: nae, nahi, ne, neen, nei, nein, nĂ hea, nie, non, nu, nyet or just plain NO, have a great theme day. I hope you can visit as many of the other participating blogs as possible.

Celtics Parade

A rolling parade on Duck Boats took place on Thursday in Boston in honor of the Boston Celtics, winners of the NBA basketball championship. It was the Celtics 17th championship, but the first in 22 years.

iPod, uPod, we allPod

Large iPod billboard sign at the corner of Stuart and Columbus. Doesn't it seem that advertising is encroaching on every part of society - sports stadiums are covered with advertising signs and are named for products or companies; city buses are moving advertising signs, and billboards are getting larger and larger.

Street Signs Three

Can you guess the name of this street? I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw not one, not two, but three signs for this one street, and two are on the same light pole. Doesn't it seem when you need to know a street's name there isn't a sign in sight. This can be particularly true in Boston (and New England) where it is expected you should know the name of the street you are on without need of a sign to identify it.

Have you ever seen a street with three signs?

Arch Street Fair

The Arch Street Church's Franciscan Priests held a street fair on Tuesday this week to raise money for their outreach programs. The priest selling leather goods had quite a variety of quality items to sell.
