Sometimes buildings disappear, but echoes remain. Look closely and you will see traces of a building in this one.
An appropriate message during the rush of the holiday season. This message is embedded in the sidewalk in front of the Nine Zero Hotel on Tremont Street.

Detail of the Old State House and its Unicorn.

Shadows formed by the fire escape created an interesting pattern curving down to the window.

A few skaters on the newly opened for the season ice skating rink on the Frog Pond in the Boston Common

Statue of James Michael Curley, former mayor of Boston. In the background is the New England Holocaust Memorial.

I saw this bike locked up by the BU dorms on Shelton Street and had to chuckle when I noticed the empty beer bottle on the ground beside it. Was that the last beer of the night, one for the road or the first of the night?

Fenway Park recently announced a 9% average increase in ticket prices, all but the lowest and highest priced tickets will increase. Lower bleacher seats will cost $26 and grandstand seats will cost $50. The team says increases are to pay for player salaries and improvements at the ballpark -- I guess they don't take any salaries. Green Monster tickets will set you back $140; if you are coming to Boston next year and plan on going to Fenway, check out ticket prices here.
In the picture above you can see a construction crane in use at Fenway.

For a cup of morning joe on a lazy Sunday morning Dunkin Donuts coffee will have to suffice.

This is another in my series of bronze bricks from Winthrop Lane, which I previously posted about here and here. This one is probably my favorite as it clearly depicts the average Boston driver's mentality once he or she gets behind the wheel of a car. Why anyone would want to drive downtown is a mystery to me. I think I would rather visit the dentist than drive in Boston.
Another interior view of the Old North Church.

The Parkman Bandstand was named for one of the Boston Common’s greatest benefactors, George Francis Parkman Jr. Parkman died in 1908 and left $5 million for the care of the Common and other city parks. The bandstand was originally dedicated in 1912 and was restored in 1996.

Sting was in concert at the Boston Garden Sunday night.

Here is another Mosler night depository drop box. Click here for my earlier post with information about the Mosler company.

Here is an overall view of the Peace Memorial Garden. In the upper right is the sculpture of the Ibis, which symbolizes Hope.

The Garden of Peace Memorial honors all the victims of homicide. The overall design of the memorial is of a dry river bed with a granite orb at the top. The granite orb in the garden symbolizes the enormous sadness, weight, and tragedy of homicide. The stones around the orb are each unique, and represent one victim of homicide. A name is inscribed on the individual stones in memory of a person that had lost his life.

Interesting sign for a Restaurant/Bar on Water Street. I don't understand why they have a guy sleeping on an ironing board for a restaurant & bar, but I found it one of the most interesting signs I've ever seen.

If you click the picture you will see a pair of sneakers in the tree; not usually visible except for the bare branches in the top half of the tree.

This is an updated picture of the new luxury condominiums being constructed at 45 Province Street in the downtown area. You can view a picture of this building from last month here. As you can see they have added several floors in that time. The company is working 7 days per week and even late into the night to meet their deadline.

A very colorful Ben and Jerry's ice cream truck parked on the street in Boston. Ben and Jerry's is great tasting New England ice cream and is a personal favorite.

Autumn in the Public Garden.

Bas relief of the founding of Boston in the Boston Common.

This ice cream truck is always parked on the corner of Boylston and Arlington Streets selling ice cream. The design on the truck is from the famous book by Robert McCloskey, Make Way for Ducklings. The bronze ducklings are in the Public Garden and are a big hit with children of all ages.
