The third rail that powers the subway in Boston.

I used to know a guy that grew up on Nantucket. It wasn't often that he would say or do something that made me stop, look at him, and think "did you grow up under a rock?!" (nope, he grew up ON a rock!). The one time that REALLY got me though, was when we were standing at a subway stop in DC waiting for the train, and he said to me "is the third rail really electrified, or do they just say that to keep people off the tracks?" He was dead serious. And I was shocked...because regardless of where you grow up or how used to a subway you are, I just assumed that if you were a half smart person, you just KNEW that it was true.

Thanks for the photo - brought back a funny memory and had to share!!
