Here is another view of this arbor.
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana -- Groucho Marx

City workers laying new flower beds in the Public Garden.

Some women and children enjoying a nice sunny picnic in the Public Garden recently.

One of the many man hole covers on city streets.

The Boston Celtics are in the NBA Playoffs and the state house has hung a large banner off its front portico in their honor. The state house has done the same thing for other local sports teams. I'm not much of a basketball fan, so this picture is for my oldest son who is a big fan.

Stairway in the Boston Common.

Inside of the building seen in yesterday's post.

Train tracks lead into a vacant building on the Boston waterfront. This building was built in 1940 to help build ships but is now empty and vacant. As in many cities in the U.S. that used to play important roles in shipbuilding, that industry is now a thing of the past.

Colors on Marlborough Street in the South End. I took this picture last month. Not every day has been chilly and overcast, and this picture reminds me that we have had some nice days this Spring.

Empty Fanueil Hall cafe on a chilly weekday afternoon.

A beautiful sky surrounds George Washington in the Public Garden.

This fire truck in the museum is the Water Witch and was originally from the town of Salem, noted for its witches.

Today's doorway is the Boston Fire Museum on Congress Street. Tomorrow I will show you what lurks in the other doorway. I'm sure you can see it if you enlarge this picture.

A nearly deserted Fanueil Hall on a cold and windy May day.

Parents and their children crowded around the most popular attraction in the Public Garden, the Make Way for Duckling statues near the Charles Street entrance.
Click Here for a different view of the ducklings. I took this shot a few months ago when the park was a little less crowded:)

Some tourists enjoying Boston by horse drawn carriage.

I saw this on a wall and couldn't resist. Click here for a different and more complete picture of the sign.

I usually post a doorway on Wednesday but forgot, so I am posting it today. I don't know how it happened, but I've been so preoccupied with other things lately it just slipped by me. Has this ever happened to you?
This doorway caught my attention because of the simplicity of the arch and also because it was being newly painted and spruced up.

Reading in the park.

Quiet time on a sunny afternoon at the Charles River Esplanade.

Two women in the Public Garden enjoying the tulips and taking pictures on a cool overcast day.

This Sunday the I Spy meme is grass. Click the magnifying glass below to visit gMirage2g in Vienna to see a list of participants and to join the Sunday meme.

A view of the old and the new in Boston, represented by the almost 200 year old Park Street Church and a luxe condo building going up behind it. Other views of the construction can be seen here.
The building in front of the crane is Suffolk Law School and was featured in yesterday's lantern and Wednesday doorway.

This is a close up of the lantern we saw in last Wednesday's Doorway series.

Once again it is Theme Day for the Daily City Photo Blog Community. The theme this month is NUMBERS. My picture is of a bus route number that also includes the name of my fair city.
