
The building houses two courtrooms for the Court of Appeals and 25 courtrooms for the District Court, as well as 40 judges' chambers, a Circuit law library, the office of a United States Congressman, offices for the United States Attorney, extensive support facilities for the United States Marshals service and Pre-Trial and Probation services, as well as a day-care facility. The 675,000-square-foot (62,700 m2) building, clad in water-struck brick with granite trim, has ten floors above grade and one below.

This is way more than a courthouse! If it weren't for the curved glass facade, I'd say it looks like a fortress. And I actually like its design!
Love all that glass. Do they use a passive solar system in there?

Very impressive architecture! but my eyes were attracted by the beautyful boat near the pier...and I liked the contrast between this light wooden ship and the heavy place behind!
That is massive. Somehow it reminds me of London.
I was in front of that place a couple of weeks ago! Overheard a couple of gentlemen discussing it's background just as you described. Dinner at the Barking Crab was great :)
