Wednesday Doorway

This weeks doorway is a little departure from my usual Wednesday doorway and is instead a close up of a church door. I found this to be of more interest than the whole doorway. For those curious about such things, the door is from Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Newbury Street.

Monochrome Monday - Stairs

Today is Monday and it's time to get back to work. It's also the day for many of us to post a b&w photo. We can all be found at the Home of Monochrome Monday. Give the others a visit and leave a comment or two. Have a great week.

These stairs are adjacent to the JFK Federal Building in City Hall Plaza and lead to the North End. I was lucky when I was taking the picture a man appeared in the distance to complete the composition.

School vacation

I spotted these young girls with the million dollar smiles sitting on the Esplanade yesterday. Actually, I heard them giggling and enjoying themselves before seeing them and couldn't resist asking if I could take their picture. They happily posed for me with their balloons and told me they were from Wellesley and have been on school vacation this week. Don't you wish you looked as good in a balloon hat?

Wednesday Doorway

Whaddya Need? If you don't know you can fuhgeddaboudit.

Actually, the answer can be found in this week's doorway on Salem Street in the North End. It looks like it might be a clearing house for any type of service an urban city dweller would ever need.

Boston Marathon

Monday was the the 113th BAA Boston Marathon, which begins in Hopkinton and ends in Boston. I was in Copley Square and caught the runners just after they crossed the finish line.

Polcaris Coffee

After posting brewery photos yesterday, I thought it would be good to change beverages and switch to coffee. Therefore, I present Polcaris, one of the best places in the North End to purchase ground or whole bean coffee. Great service and coffee in a friendly Italian grocery. My favorite on Saturdays is Viennese Cinnamon, black. However you take your coffee or tea, enjoy and have a wonderful Saturday.

Interior of Polcaris from a previous visit (post) on January 15th.

Samuel Adams Brewery

Main brewing room floor of the Samuel Adams Brewery in Jamaica Plain. You can see some of the vats used to process the beers and the specialty beers aging in their wooden casks. The small brewery in Boston is used for brewing some of their specialty beers; they have other breweries are in Lehigh, Pennsylvania and Cincinnati, Ohio.

Close up view of the beer vats below.

Wednesday Doorway

This week's doorway is the building at 500 Boylston Street, which also happens to be the building used as the setting for the television series Boston Legal. The series just ended its five year run on American television.

Samuel Adams Brewery

Saturday we visited the Samuel Adams Brewery in Jamaica Plain. I wanted to show this picture from the Brewery tasting room because it includes a shot of my oldest son and today is his 23rd birthday. Happy Birthday Artie!

Monochrome Monday - Building lobby

It's Monday and the weekend is over, so it's time to go back to work. This building lobby is one I sometimes cut through on my way to work, when I get off the train at South Station.

Monday also means Monochrome Monday because participating blogs post b&w photos. These monochrome maniacs can be found at Ailenis. Please visit and leave a comment or two. Have a great week.

Wednesday Doorway

This weeks doorway was shot a few weeks ago on Mass. Ave. in Cambridge. I loved the colors of the store and especially its name - Weirdo Records.
