Paris Interruptus

This is our plane being readied and loaded for the scheduled flight to Paris. Upon checking the aircraft prior to boarding, damage was discovered on the nose of the plane, which was caused by impact with a bird. The airline decided to ground the plane and cancel the flight until replacement parts could be flown in from Paris.

Below is a closer look at the dimple on the nose of the jet. I, along with over 360 fellow passengers were quite dismayed when the flight was canceled. However, I was able to call Air France and was booked on an Aer Lingus flight leaving at 6:20pm the next night, which was great because it is school vacation week and ALL FLIGHTS are booked. I really appreciate all of the people at Air France who, either on the phone or at the terminal, were extremely helpful and courteous under very stressful circumstances. Now on to Dublin for my connecting flight to Paris.

Wednesday Doorway + Travel Break

Wooden doorway on Beaver Place, a small street at the bottom of Beacon Hill.

This is my 1,300th post and will be my last for a couple of weeks. I'm heading
to Paris and then Prague to visit my son, who is studying at Charles University.

Period Doorknobs

Spotted in a hardware store on Charles Street. I first photographed the other window of this hardware store four years ago. Click here to see my earlier photo.

Wednesday Doorway

This week's doorway can be found at the Hatch Shell on the Esplande. The Hatch Shell is an outdoor bowl style stage on the banks of the Charles River and is probably best known for the annual Boston Pops July 4th concert. The polished granite base is fine for late afternoon reflections.

April Theme Day - Edges

The theme this month is "edges" and I thought I would show some of the edges of Boston City Hall, a victim poster child of the Brutalist yes, that is a real style of architecture. To view how others have interpreted the theme this month click here to view thumbnails for all participants.
