A play at the plate

I captured this sequence at Saturday night's minor league ball game in Pawtucket. I liked the look of determination on the catcher's face to beat the runner to the plate and tag him, but the runner was too fast and slid in under the tag and was safe. The Buffalo Bisons may have scored first, but the Red Sox won the game 6-4

Baseball

While the rest of the world is watching the World Cup, we in the States are (mostly) watching baseball. An excited fan at last night's Pawtucket Red Sox game, which they lost 1-0 to the Syracuse Chiefs.

Baseball on a Hot August Night

Three young fans intently watching the action on the field. Unfortunately the home town team fell to the visiting Rochester Red Wings 5-3; but it was a great game.

Night Baseball

Night baseball at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I. The night I was there the Paw Sox were hammered by the division leading Scranton Yankees 14-1.

The black line you see in the middle of the picture is a seam of the netting behind home plate to prevent accidents from foul balls.

Pawtucket Red Sox

I went to a minor league baseball game last night between the Pawtucket Red Sox and the Rochester Red Wings of the International League. It was a great evening for a ball game. I sat behind home plate and first base, with the netting behind home plate visible.
The second shot is during an exciting moment later in the game. I enjoy minor league games because of the great atmosphere at the games and it only costs about one fifth the cost of a Boston Red Sox game.
