Garden of Peace Memorial

The Garden of Peace Memorial honors all the victims of homicide. The overall design of the memorial is of a dry river bed with a granite orb at the top. The granite orb in the garden symbolizes the enormous sadness, weight, and tragedy of homicide. The stones around the orb are each unique, and represent one victim of homicide. A name is inscribed on the individual stones in memory of a person that had lost his life.

This is one of the most unique memorials I've ever seen. I guess I keep wondering...is it set off somewhere or do people walk on the 'stones' which would almost feel like walking on a grave. The granit is beautiful.

Fantastic photo. I really like the detail that you captured in the stone reflections as well as being able to see some of the names etched into the stones.

Thanks for visiting my NorthBayPhoto blog. To answer your question: The airplane ride was great and I will hopefully have some more photos up on the blog later this week.

I really like the idea of a memorial for victims of homicide--it's an important reminder for us all too, that anything can happen, at any time with or without the threat of outsider terrorism

and you've captured the memorial in such a beautiful manner too

What a most beautiful memorial - I so love the names on the stones - do they ever get stolen ???

What was the catalyst for this memorial - I've never heard of one for people who have been murdered before???

My father is memorialized there. He died a few days before you took this picture. The Garden of Peace is truly a peaceful, beautiful way to remember those who died so tragically.
