Museum of Fine Arts

The front entrance to the Museum of Fine Arts on Huntington Avenue is closed while being renovated. In the background you can see the crane being used to build the new addition to the museum on Forsyth Avenue.

Below is a picture of the new addition under construction.

Nice photo. It looks more like a government building than a fine arts building.

Love the shot. Also love that building - I hope the addition fits!

I've been meaning to pop in and tell you, I like your new format! Very fresh and dramatic.

Your museum looks like our district court buildings. Very nice.

What color! It's such a disappointment, though, when you can't use the grand entrance to such a place. I didn't know the museum was getting an addition. Do you know who designed it?

Thanks all for visiting. I never thought the MFA looked like a court or gov't building, but I guess it all depends on your frame of reference.

MKHansen, the museum was designed by Foster + Partners of London. You can see the press release and some pictures of how it will look upon completion clicking here.

Oh, dear. I looked, and I can't say I'm surprised at what the addition will look like. But I can't see what visual relationship it has to the original building. I hope the main entrance will stay the same. (Often these modern additions contain a new main entrance with better handicapped access, and the grand original one gets closed off.)
