Monochrome Monday - Before the Concert

This Monday's photo is a picture of the Boston Symphony Orchestra stage before a concert; if you enlarge the photo you can see the pianist inspecting the piano. Other Monochrome Maniacs can be found here.

God morning Boston!!!

A great shot from you as ever. Almost as you can feel the expectations in this big room.

Rain in he middle og Norway today, but the lady is smiling after all.

Have a nice day my friend.

I am reminded of the 'Leningrade' symphony when the muscians leave the stage one by one until a single instrument is left to pick out the singular notes of that moving work.

Great shot! How did you manage to take it (I mean, where were you taking this photo)? I really like it!
BTW, my garden is handkie - size but I love it:)

I do a lot of music photography workwise and it is a joy to see such a different angle.

One often see after-the-event pictures, not so often pictures taken before. I liked this very much.

The opera and now a concert! What a guy!

I think that the black and white matches very well with the universe of music, like the notes on the partition, the keyboard of the piano, the costume of the piano player...Your picture also shows well the mood of "calm impatience "before the concert..Beautyful shot!

Geometry, geometry, geometry. Love all the change in shapes and the range of light to the abyss of darkness on the right hand side! Great use of black and white!

I agree with the others. This is a really fine study in B&W. Those empty chairs create a certain visual noise, as do the expectant music stands. You've visually conveyed the escalating buzz of excitement before a performance.

Was the concert as good as the shot?

ha! good question, cieldequimper!

i doubt that it was - hard for anyone or anything to top that pic.

That's a stunning view and monchrome is the right fit.

Excellent work. I can see the pianist, yes. All pianists must inspect the piano in case it lost a key!

Great choice - and a more original perspective than many of the monochrome posts this week.

Stunning. I like the way you're framed this shot.

A great shot - just made for b&w. I used to love this moment when all is set up and almost ready to go, and nearly everybody is out for a bite before work starts :)
